Early Childhood Intervention and Inclusion
Early intervention refers to services given to very young children with special needs, generally from birth until the child turns three. Early childhood inclusion embodies the values, policies, and practices that support the right of every infant and young child and his or her family, regardless of ability, to participate in a broad range of activities and contexts as full members of families, communities, and society (DEC/NAEYC, 2009).
This section is designed to connect early childhood professionals with information on early childhood intervention and inclusion.
Early Intervention: Colorado’s Early Intervention system supports children birth through two years of age who have special developmental needs.
SpecialQuest Birth-Five: This initiative works to ensure that state and local communities, including Early Head Start and Head Start programs and their community partners, collaborate to provide high-quality inclusive services for young children with disabilities and their families.
